The Petoskey Stone Circle - Join our Planned Giving Society

The Petoskey Stone Circle honors and celebrates those who include New Day in their planned giving, leaving a lasting impact on families facing cancer.

Imagine a world where every family facing cancer has the emotional support they need, financial burdens are eased, and hope is always within reach. By including New Day in your estate planning, you can help bring this vision to life while also securing valuable financial benefits for you and your loved ones. In doing so, you’ll be invited to join the Petoskey Stone Circle.

Petoskey Stones, formed from fossilized coral over millions of years, embody beauty and permanence. The Petoskey Stone Circle represents how individuals, like the fossils within the stone, unite to bring hope and support to families for generations to come.

Bequests through Wills or Trusts

Bequests are gifts to New Day designated in your will that are simple, flexible and versatile. All you need is to add a few sentences to your will using legal bequest language.

Beneficiary Designations

A simple way to make a lasting estate gift to New Day without revising your will or trust is to update beneficiary forms for assets like life insurance policies, retirement accounts, annuities, pension plans, or mutual funds to designate New Day as the beneficiary. Please contact your financial advisor to explore this opportunity.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity allows you to make a meaningful donation to New Day while receiving regular payments for life, along with a tax deduction, and ensuring your gift will support the organization after your lifetime. Please contact your financial advisor to explore this opportunity.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust allows you to protect your assets, minimize estate taxes, and provide for a beneficiary, with the remaining assets benefiting New Day after a designated period. Please contact your financial advisor to explore this opportunity.

A Family Legacy: The Lynch Family

For Ed and Heather Lynch, giving back has always been a way of life. When they first learned about New Day, they were drawn to the mission, helping Michigan families navigate the emotional and financial challenges of cancer.

“When a parent or child is diagnosed, cancer doesn’t just affect one person – it can upend an entire family,” Heather shares. “I don’t know of another nonprofit that steps in to help these families in the way New Day does.”

Over the years, their connection to New Day grew deeper. Ed now serves as Board Chair, and Heather plays a key role in planning the Celebrity Lip Sync Battle, New Day’s largest fundraiser. These commitments led Ed and Heather to take one more step – they decided to include New Day in their estate plans, becoming members of the Petoskey Stone Circle.

“We made this choice because it reflects the way we live our lives,” Ed explains. “We believe in an abundance mindset. We have enough to share, and we want to set an example for our children. Including New Day in our plans ensures our support continues long after we’re gone.”

Making a planned gift doesn’t require wealth or complex financial planning. By simply naming New Day in your will, you can join the Petoskey Stone Circle today and help families facing cancer for generations to come. Since your gift stays right here in Michigan, it strengthens local families and communities.

“There’s so much focus on cancer research, and that’s important,” Ed says. “But families facing cancer need help now. Until there’s a cure, New Day will be here, and we want to make sure they have the resources to keep going.”

Ed and Heather’s story is a reminder that generosity doesn’t have to wait. By making a simple change to your will or estate plan, you too can join the Petoskey Stone Circle and create a legacy that ripples through Michigan communities, supporting families when they need it most.
